Every Corner Project

Please apply using the Every Corner Project application form. All applications must be made using the form. Applications by email won't be considered. Applications open on 27 February and close on 31 March 2025.

Registered charities, schools/kura, iwi and hapū can apply for Every Corner Project funding. To apply, your organisation must be a:

• Charity listed on the New Zealand Charities Register
• School/kura listed on the New Zealand Schools Directory
• Hapū/Iwi

The Every Corner Project aims to support grassroots efforts by communities – big and small – to improve, protect or restore their local environment. Below are some examples of projects we'd be interested in hearing about, and the application form also has an option to provide your own description. We're looking for a lasting impact of five years or more so please keep this in mind when you apply.

• Planting native trees and plants
• Establishing native gardens, food gardens or beehives
• Reducing food waste from landfill, for example, composting
• Nature and/or climate education
• Renewable energy, for example, solar panels
• Predator control
• Restoration/regeneration of oceans, beaches, mangroves and waterways

Applications will firstly be assessed by Air New Zealand's sustainability experts to create a shortlist of projects in each region. Then our 20 port teams will review the shortlist and assess applications for their local area and the surrounding regions.

Funding requests can be from $5,000 up to $10,000 for a school/kura, and from $10,000 up to $15,000 for a charity, hapū or iwi. Applications can be made for partial or full funding.

Funding applications can be made for projects which haven't yet been completed and which will be completed within 12 months.

Applications open on 27 February and close on 31 March 2025. Successful projects will be announced by 9 May 2025.

The Every Corner Project is funded through the airline's Climate and Nature Fund, which is paid for through an internal carbon charge on Air New Zealand's longest international flights (Houston, New York and Chicago), plus any profits from our Z Energy partnership. The Climate and Nature Fund is ringfenced for sustainability efforts across four areas: reducing carbon emissions, increasing renewable energy, expanding the supply of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) supply, and enhancing internal sustainability.

Air New Zealand is targeting net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and we have a comprehensive programme of work as we move away from fossil fuels. The Every Corner Project recognises the role we can also play in supporting local communities to drive meaningful change for nature now.

The Every Corner Project is a one-off initiative and doesn't provide ongoing funding.

Only schools/kura listed on the New Zealand Schools Directory can apply for funding. If we run the Every Corner Project in the future, we'll consider whether to extend applications to the early childhood sector as well.
